How to cite third-party images

How to cite third-party images

You could be plagiarising if you include third-party images or fragments of images in your thesis without citing the source correctly.

To avoid this, make sure that you comply with the conditions of Article 32.1 of the Intellectual Property Law:

  • Only works that have already been published can be used.
  • An image or a fragment of an image must be included as a citation or for analysis, comment or critical judgment.
  • The citation can only be made for teaching or research purposes.
  • The amount of work used must be sufficiently measured.
  • The source and name of the author of the original work must be stated.

Predatory journals

Predatory journals

Predatory journals accept articles for publication with little scientific rigor and without performing external evaluation processes.

Authors have to pay fees to publish articles but it is important not to confuse them with open access journals.
