Training in Research Data Management and Open Science
Aalto University, which together with the UPC is a partner of the Unite! alliance of technological universities, offers free webinars serie on Research Data Management (RDM). There will be new webinars in spring on topics such as:
- Data documentation
- GitHub for FAIR data
- Open science in research proposals
- Organization of data management services: case studies from Dutch, American and Finnish universities.

Ethics at the UPC
What is ethics? What is it for?
The UPC Ethics Committee has prepared some videos to learn and reflect, with real dilemmas and expert people, on concepts related to ethics in science, engineering and technology. So far, two have been published:
- Ethics, a need for free beings
- Do we let artificial intelligence into the classroom?

ChatGPT and the academic journals
Some journals and publishers such as Nature and SpringerNature are beginning to consider basic rules for the use, by authors and researchers, of AI tools such as ChatGPT and other LLMs (Large Language Models).
The first basic rules are:
- No LLM tool will be accepted as a credited author on a research paper.
- Researchers using LLM tools should document such use in the methods and/or acknowledgments sections.
