Still don't have an ORCID?
An ORCID is an identifier that provides a unique, persistent and unequivocal author code that distinguishes your scientific and technical output from that of other authors.
Having an ORCID allows you to:
- Submit articles to most journals for publication.
- Enjoy a free article processing charge for open-access publishing.
- Apply for calls and grants both nationally and internationally.
- Set up a profile in the Research Portal of Catalonia.

Research Café on seas and oceans
On 19 October, the Baix Llobregat Campus Library held a Research Café on seas and oceans.
Projects were presented in which technology serves the seas and oceans.
The presentations, which are published in UPCommons, are divided into three areas.
- Social: bringing the marine environment closer to society, participation, citizen science and awareness.
- Technological: technological applications in the marine environment, such as instruments and tool development.
- Data: data collection, processing, storage and use.

2020 and 2021 most consulted theses
This year, the Rector Gabriel Ferraté Library has compiled the ranking of most consulted UPC doctoral theses published in 2020 and 2021, which shows the 25 most consulted UPC doctoral theses in UPCommons.
The most consulted thesis is Arquitectura moderna de Quito, 1954-1960 (Modern architecture of Quito, 1954-1960), by Dr Shayarina Monard of the Department of Theory and History of Architecture and Communication Techniques.

A prizewinning thesis
Dr Renwen Yu has received another prize for his thesis, Toward next-generation nanophotonic devices.
Having received the UPC's Special Doctoral Award for the 2018-2019 graduation year in the Science field and the GEFES 2019 Best Theoretical Thesis in Condensed Matter Physics award from the Spanish Royal Physics Society, the European Physical Society has now awarded him the 2021 Quantum Electronics and Optics Division Thesis Prize.
