A new version of the FUTUR portal

We’re starting the year with the launch of a new version of FUTUR, the portal for the scientific output of UPC researchers.

The portal’s homepage has new content on open science, transformative agreements on open-access publishing and scientific output based on the Sustainable Development Goals.

Doctoral candidates have a personal page that shows the research activities registered in DRAC.

Transformative agreements for open-access publishing

Transformative agreements for open-access publishing

Agreements between institutions and scientific publishers are evolving, and some allow articles to be published in immediate open access.

The UPC currently has agreements with the publishers Elsevier, Wiley, Springer and the American Chemical Society with this option.

The Article Processing Charge (APC) is applied to the research group. Corresponding authors must:

  • Be employed at the UPC at the time the journal accepts the article for publication.
  • State their institutional affiliation with the UPC in the article.
  • Have the ORCID code that is registered in DRAC and FUTUR.

Mendeley Reference Manager replaces Mendeley Desktop

Mendeley Reference Manager replaces Mendeley Desktop

Mendeley has announced that, by 1st September, Mendeley Desktop will be permanently replaced by the new Mendeley Reference Manager interface and the new Mendeley Cite citation plugin. Although users who already have Mendeley Desktop installed will still be able to use it, Mendeley will not update or support it, and it will eventually disappear.

Please be aware that Word documents that contain citations and bibliographies created with the Mendeley Desktop citation plugin (Mendeley Cite-o-Matic) are not supported by the new Mendeley Reference Manager citation plugin (Mendeley Cite).

To be able to continue working normally with these documents, the following update process is necessary:

  • Uninstall Word’s Mendeley Desktop plugin in “Tools” in Mendeley Desktop.
  • Install the new Mendeley Cite plugin in Word.
  • Open a document created with the Mendeley Desktop plugin in Word, in which only Mendeley Cite is now installed. (A copy must be made beforehand to avoid losing information.)
  • Once you have opened the document, open Mendeley Cite, which will automatically detect that the document contains references created with Mendeley Desktop and will open a window that says “Update this document”.
  • From that point on, just follow the on-screen instructions.
If you need more information contact your library.
